Here's the story...

A couple of days ago my nephew was at the lake swimming and he saw some kids had found a turtle's nest and were destroying the eggs (grrrrr!). He grabbed what he could and ran home with them... He calls me last night and asked if I'd incubate them; of course I said yes... So we just got them put in the incubator, but I don't think they're going to hatch because of their rough trip...

I have them in perlite/vermiculite mix with enough water to make it clump, but not drip. They're incubating in my female leo 'bator at 82 degrees...

The five that survived the massacre...

They're either Painted, Softshell or Snapping Turtle eggs... If they make it they'll be set free at a nice calm lagoon I know of...

Michael, I hardly ever see soft shelleds around our area so I would narrow it down to the painted or snapper. After seeing RES eggs, I would almost say they are painteds, but this is a sheer guess.

Tell your nephew next time he sees those kids to push them in the lake.
