Looking at another post saw a lot of "Nature spirit" and "helix". Dealing with a lot of temp swings with my hovabator any where from 79 to 86 (thanks to living on top level apartment and heat ways of 90 degrees already)!?!?! My geckos don't seem to mind these huge temp swings but i think that's whats killing my eggs. Or just one thing to try to remedy in the equation to hatch eggs. So far 2 clutches and both not making it past day 10. Getting some great ideas but right now want to focus on keeping a real solid temp with my hovabator any suggestions or site links ?

Can't help you with the temp swings on the Hovabator, I have the Natures Spirit incubator and its AWESOME. Temps don't fluctuate, I have the Herpstat on it and its been on the money as far as temps go.

I went with the NS incubator as I did not want to deal with the temp fluctuations, I just plug it in and set the Herpstat....and I walk away. I only go back to check on the temps, and even that, its a couple of push of button and the Herpstat tells me what the highest and lowest temp reached since I last checked.

I have lost too many eggs this year on a hovabator I have looked at modifying mine. It is too late to modify it now with eggs in there I found nothing on the internet about doing it and no one here last year had done it I had asked. What I was thinking for a quick fix for this year was to turn the hobo wide open and use BAH-1000SC thermostat to control the temp. But I am not sure. At this point you are like ready to scream. I bet I have lost 12 eggs and that is killing me.
I hope to have the money to get a Natures Spirit incubator soon but I might break down and get the toy incubator and get the Kemp's 100 eggs that would do me for now

Guess back to subject sorry got on tangent about my bad luck this year last year was great I have found nothing but I am looking as well. And if I find something I will post it here for you. Most things I have found require gutting the wafer control system. Which is a give me.

Kemp's and Natures Spirit are the same price. Well, maybe not, as the NS requires a proportional thermostat such as Helix or Herpstat to work best for the unit which can add another $100, but its well worth it.

The draw back that I could see with the Kemp unit is that should you have multiple hatches at the same time, you will probably loose track of which is which. The second thing is that all the eggs are sitting on the same incubation medium....not a good idea as the gunt from the first hatch might started molding on you while the last egg has yet to hatch and you have to deal with that clean up or move things around carefully of the remaining viable eggs that are about to hatch.

With NS, you can separate the clutches and should you have problems, its isolated to that container and the entire collection is not effected.

We use Nature's Spirit incubators controlled by Helix thermostats. They control the incubators really well and are worth every penny.
