this is my leo patternless gecko pistol. i rescued him not knowing how badly his conditions were. I have spoken to a few people about him and they all recomend me taking him to the vet for a fecal. now i currently do not have the money to get him to a vet and i dont want to see him suffering. he eats crickets bc he does poop. poop lookes normal. his tail is really skinny and so are arms and legs. should i keep him and try to keep him the way he is hoping that he does not have parasites, or should i find somone on here that could take him into a home were they can treat him ?

Oh geez, that poor guy is super emaciated. He couldn't get any skinner. :(

I'm not comfortable commenting on how important a fecal test would be, someone will be along soon with more experience. I'm shocked by his condition though. Where did you rescue him from?

Oh my! Poor little guy... Im not extremely experienced myself but it has to be a good thing if he will still eat. I hope he pulls through. You did a good thing trying to help him.

Wow... I've been working with leos for quite some time and I honestly have to say that is the skinniest tail I have ever seen on a leo. It's very good if he's eating and pooping. I would really feed him as much as he wants and anything he wants, just to start him off. A fecal really would tell you a lot and they are very important to knowing the overall health of your gecko. See if you can call a local herp vet and ask them if they can just charge you to have a fecal test done, it shouldnt be too expensive. Be sue he has minimal stress and proper housing. Good luck with him!

You're not going to like this, but it is important that it be said.

If you cannot afford a vet, then you have no business owning any animal. You especially have no business taking in animals that you would call "rescues" since by definition that means they are going to be in rough shape and require medical attention.

i agree. theres no rescue if the care can't be afforded.

i think what your doing is great and a good thing... but by not being able to afford the vet it was a silly choice taking this animal in.
I hope that you prove us wrong and get this animal back to perfect health the way your are. :0 good luck.

good luck on getting this lil guy back in shape. He's not in the same tank with the AFT you got as well is he, he'll need his own tank to relax and heal in.
