I am leaving friday for florida and was making my rounds with the geckos checking nest box's in hopes i would find eggs before leaving rather then losing eggs while im gone.
I discover 2 air pockets under the front legs of my leopard geckos. These 2 pockets look like 2 bags with air in them but not completely full and not completely deflated. The bags dont seem to cause her any pain or discomfort when are gently touched. I have never seen anything like this before.
a little back round on her.
Purchased at a reptile show 3 years ago been with 2 other females the entire 3 years. introduced a male over last winter and she has been my best breeder since introducing the male.
diet is dubia and super worms / supplimented with herpavite and reptical ( used for years )
substrate is news paper.
she did have a run in with my 21 month old son the other day where he was able to get into the tank with out anyone knowing and pulled her out of the tank. He must of handled her in a way she didnt like because she bit his finger and once hearing him crying is when i noticed he was holding her rather tightly with her mouth wide open. shes never bit anyone before but then again she has never been mishandled either.
Right after she was looked over and no physical damage was apparent. This is now a little under a week later and I see these 2 air pockets and I feel just horrible about it. These particular 3 leopard geckos I purchased them out of pitty because they were in terrible condition I actually purchased 6 of them they were skinny and had shed problems and the best the guy would do was $40 each for the 6 and I couldn't leave them. 3 of the 6 past on. She has stubby front toes i dont know why she lost them but their stubby. shes a total lap gecko.
Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to upload photos of the air pockets but cant seem to considering the photo is to large so i am going to play with a photo re sizer program i found online to see if I can change them. any help with that would also be greatly appreciated.
