hey guys... my hatchling got out of its bin :( then me and my brother were trying to find it all over the place.. then all of a sudden an accident happened. as my brother tried to push the table back.. the gecko shouted and apparently its left hand got stuck.. perhaps it was painful enough he tore his own hand away from the table. :( what should i do? very tragic :(

How sad! I would get him to a vet ASAP - like seriously call and make an emergency visit NOW. If you want to try to save him, his leg needs to be treated and he needs to put on antibiotics to reduce the chance of infection. If you don't want to treat it you need to have him put down so he doesn't have to suffer any more than he already is.

also that thing dangling off its leg looks like stuck shed, is it?
if it is you need to remove it righ now as its constricting the blood flow.

Honestly Sausage, I've been looking at it and it doesn't look like a torn leg or whatever done by a table. It looks all shriveled and dead, like something constricted it (stuck shed?) and it just died. I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me. I just hope the right thing was done....

I would be calling every vet in town! And at this point I think the best thing would be just to have it put to sleep. I say this because it's been too long on that leg without medical care. He is suffering SO bad... PLEASE don't "mercy kill" it yourself. Just take it to a vet and tell the vet he needs to be put to sleep. Because honestly, if that was YOUR leg wouldn't YOU be suffering horribly? I hope no one thinks I am heartless or mean, but I'm not. I'm just trying to think about what quality of life the little thing will have after going so long without any medical treatment and what kind of pain it must be in.

What do you mean the vet didn't want to accommodate you? Why not?? Go to a different vet!

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

The vet should amputate the leg. It's sad but the poor fellow is in pain!!! Give him special care and don't put him in a place where other geckos can make fun of him. Don't mercy kill it because the gecko has his whole life ahead of him!!!

I'm glad to see your gecko is pulling through with the leg injury and is healing. I recently lost a little gal who had to lose a leg and it was real hard. Still congratulations and I wish the little guy all the luck. : )

From here on out though, find a vet who WILL treat your animals and WILL work with you, so nothing like this will ever happen again.
