I've had my giant day gecko a little over a year now, pretty sure it's a boy. But the past few days he's been acting aggressive. Biting at us when we feed him honey, which he never did before. The other day, he was hiding in a tree thingy we have in there, and when I finally found him I swear he was dead! But a few hours later when I decided to accept this fact and get him out, he darted out from under the tree and scared the freakin crap out of me!! I fed him dusted crickets and he didn't touch them, instead he let them crawl all over him. I'm starting to wonder if he is in fact a she and "becoming a woman" so to speak. Either way the poor baby won't climb on anything, just hangs out around the bottom. I don't know what to do, the last time I saw behavior like this in one of my scaly babies, she died a few days later. As mean as s/he's being right now, I don't want to lose him/her. Please any help you guys have would be great!!! Thank you

Could you give us a little more info about the gecko and the setup? Photos would help if you have any. But we'd need more details before we can really tell you anything helpful without just making wild guesses. Does he never stick on the walls so you can get a look at his vent/bulge area?

Temp stays around 80 during the day, drops to about 70 during the night. Humidity is between 60-80% depending on time of day. We have a 50 watt exo terra basking light in the front of the housing, in the back under the hood we have a 26 watt exo terra UVB "natural light" for plant growth. For night, we have a 60 watt moon light bulb, just for a little bit of warmth and a glow at night. Substrate, we're using organic soil with live ivy. Tons of bamboo and a little "hammock" for s/he to hang out on.He used to climb on the glass all the time, but not here lately. So pics of the vent area aren't exactly possible right now. All he's been doing lately is hiding between a log and the back wall of the set up. As soon as he comes out, I'll work on pics in general. If you need anymore info on it all, lemme know. :)
