Hi I'm Chelsea :) I'm thinking of buying myself a crested gecko and i'm researching online about what i'll need. There's just so many things telling me I need one thing and than another site will say I don't need it and I just get so confused :c

So I was wondering if you guys could help me out and tell me exactly what i'll need to care for a crested gecko. Like lighting/heating/type of tank/food/etc.

Hi Chelsea, welcome to the forum! Cresties don't need light or heating; room temperature and lighting is fine. It would be best to get a tank with more vertical space, since they like to climb. The only food you'll need is Crested Gecko Diet (CGD) sold under the Repashy or T-Rex brands. Crickets, dubia roaches, or other insects can be given as a treat once a week or less if you want, but it's not necessary.

I house my geckos in the Zoomed 18x18x24 terrariums. I prefer the terrariums with doors on the front because it's easier to get inside to feed/water and clean. I used to use paper towels as substrate, but have switched to coco coir (Eco Earth) so I can have live plants growing in there. I have cfl lights for my terrariums but that's for the plants not the geckos.

Thank you! I have a reptile carpet i used as substrate for when my bearded dragon was smaller in the 10 gallon tank I have. Would using that as substrate for a crested gecko work fine as well?

It will work but it's a little more difficult to clean. Welcome to the forum! Thanks for joining!
