pull it off from the back to the front. regardless if your gecko won't "let" you pull it off, your the keeper and need to get it off to prevent any issue with the stuck shed.

Before you pull it- give gecko a warm shallow soak for about 15 min to loosen the skin.

A quick question on this, when the shed IS stuck on the head/eyes/nose etc. does soaking them even help? Since they don't get their heads wet? Or should you let some of the water dribble over their head? Just wondering in case I ever need to help Rin :)

Gently pour warm water over him.

When I do a soak I put them in a deli cup with warm water (not hot). Although the deli cup has holes a fair amount of humidity does build up and therefore loosens the shed.

I usually dont do soaks anymore because I am lazy. I take a cue tip and moisten it really good and gently rub. If it is near the eyes I will let droplets go onto the eyes and give it a couple minutes to soften the skin. Then see if I can loosen some near the edge of the eyelid and gently pull it away from the eye. A lot of times the geckos end up jerking back when you pull skin from them so dont be alarmed.

Putting a lid on the bath container not only keeps the gecko from possibly escaping, but also allows humidity to work on them. This gives additional moisture to dry areas that immediately absorb it. The gecko will lick the water, and lick their eyes. They can't help it, even sick ones do this. It's their instinct to take on water when their body needs it and it's readily available.

You could get a q-tip and moisten it and gently rub it on the shed. You might need to moisten it again after but keep doing it till it seems to loosen then you could gently pull/wipe off the shed. I used to use a moist q-tip with my leo that had shed stuck on her head. I rubbed it on and the shed came off easily. Good luck!

I just had the exact same situation. I soaked her for a bit, with the lid on, then used a moist q-tip and gently took of the shed.
