need help with flex heat tape

I have 1 piece of heat tape from Pro Exotics - I need to cut it in several pieces/ Problem is - I do not know how to cut it - is there some "special area" where I can do this, or I can cut it anywhere I want? the are some marks on the tape - maybe I must only cut the tape, where it is marked?

You can only cut Flex Watt on the CLEAR stripes at an angle. You do not want to cut it on the black stripes.

It depends on what kind of heat tape it is. The 3" and 4" kinds will allow you to cut pretty much anywhere with very few restrictions. The 11" can ONLY be cut in 12" sections, as indicated my a dashed line accross the tape. Here is some other Flex-Watt related info.

That's true Maurice...I guess I shouldn't assume everyone uses the 3-4"!!! To clarify Ann...like Maurice said, it's ANY of the clear stripes on the 3-4" Flex Watt...

thank you all for the answers. my flex is 3" from PRO EXOTICS - it is not like bean farm's, it has not paralel stripes - they are diagonal and cut straight accross in the beggining and ending. So I guess I can cut it anywhere. Just was interested in any other opinion, to do no wrong. Because I've red in bean farm's site, that you can only cut the heat tape in "special areas"

Just be sure you don't cut the black area where it conducts heat.

Yep, like Heather stated above. The "Bean Farm" info for how to connect FlexWatt should still be applicable to your use though. Those "pdf" files may provide you a bit more.

cut in the black area and the heat chain is not broken, I've talked with "Pro Exotics" - they told they always cut it almost in any part
