I am having issues:main_angry:
I have a Hovabator 1602N (no fan), and a Herpstat Intro. My temps are fluctuating too much. I have the Herpstat set at 82.2, but my ranges have been 79.9 to 84.5. I had the probe resting on top of the egg container in the corner. I just read that I may need to move the probe closer to the heat element. Do you think that will work? The Herpstat is set for proportional, I checked. I have not messed with the holes. They are all open, except for the two larger orange ones. My room temp does fluctuate from 75-68. I also removed the wafer completely. Very frustrating, since I did not get this much variation when I was using the Hovabator alone. Grrrrrr!!

The Hovabator should have a built in thermostat. I don't know how two thermostats on the same power source would work or if that's what proportional is supposed to do? My first thought is that they might be messing with one another? Or you might have the probe somewhere close to the side where the temp fluctuates more or somewhere it moves a bit?

Thanks for your reply. My thoughts exactly!! I removed the wafer earlier, which is the thermostat. That way, only the Herpstat is controlling it. I just moved the Herpstat probe. I pushed it through the center hole of the Hovabator, so it is now 4-5 inches away from the heat source. Now I am "hovering" over my Hovabator..LOL!!

Ahh I didn't know what a wafer was. Thanks for clarifying! How are you measuring the temps? A IRT or temperature probe separate from the Herpstat? Just as a precaution, I fill the bottom of mine with water - in the troughs where water is supposed to go. I don't need the humidity since my eggs are all in air tight tupperware but I think the water may stabilize the temperature a bit since it holds heat and stays in place better than air.

Hope the hovering helps! Haha

I have a temp probe on top of my GEO container. After moving the Herpstat probe toward the heat source, I am now seeing just a 2 degree fluctuation. (82-84). :D Now, this is interesting...I have a small bowl of water in the bottom of my hovabator for temp stabilization. I just got an email from Dion Brewington Owner, Spyder Robotics LLC, and he said to remove it because it causes more problems. I will remove it, and see what happens. Back to hovering!!

Did you finally get the temps to stabilize after removing the wafer?
After removing the wafer, My temps varied from 84-82 on top of the G.E.O. I set up a dummy container with probe inside, and temps stayed in the 82's. So everything is going good. I have four eggs "cooking", and they look healthy!!
