hey my 2 leos are doing fine but there is one prob. They always hang out in their parkay-butter bucket i made for them (they love it thats all they go in) and i have no idea what kind of moss i should use. I already made a humid hide for them with a napkin (dont have any paper towels) and they haven't gone in it once and its been in it for almost a week. Since they wouldn't go in the one i made them, i put a moist napkin in the parkay bucket. They didn't mind at all and stayed in it like usual. Now instead of using napkins i want to use moss. Ive heard about using sphagnum moss. Could someone plz give me a link??

thanks
jeff

If you go to a pet store you can get many brands of reptile moss. If you want Sphagnum moss, you can get it at Home Depot. :)

I've never used Sphagnum, but we've always been extremely happy with Fluker's Moss from PetsMart. It's a little on the expensive side, but it works great; we've never had a problem with it either. :) Peatmoss/Perlite mix works well also if you wanted an alternative! Best Wishes!!

I've used Sphagnum and my two leo's seem to like it. But there's different types of it (New Zealand and Normal). The New Zealand Moss is a different color and I've never used it (just learned about it a few weeks ago). But really any moss that would be used for reptiles or frogs that you find at your pet store will work just fine provided you don't keep it too wet.

I personally use the Bed-A-Beast (many other brand names) coconut fiber and I mix w/a bit of Perlite. It's cheap, and holds moisture well. You can get it at just about any petstore, or also online. I use the same thing in my nesting boxes, so it's convienent for me. I've never been a big fan of moss for some reason (just me).

Hi guys,

How often do you have to change the moss out in the humidity hide with new moss?

Thanks
