Need some advice~Looking for a male

So Im a total sap for Tangs! And I wanna get a Male Tang that will compliment my SHT but Im having a hard time deciding on a male. First of all i haven't found a Tang Male that Im super excited about and the one I found from a breeder listed above Im nervous about buy since it takes them like 3-4days to respond to emails. I was on Extreme Gecko's site and looking around there I really like some of the Trempers, but I need some help understanding what type of hatchling I might get from crossing a SHT with a Tremper. There is a "carrot head tremper" and one listed as just "tremper"

Sorry guys I am just having a hard time really understanding this whole genetics thing...Ive been sitting here reading the Herp. of Leo's book.
Im thinking that if I go with a Tremper that I will beable to bring out the Tang color while limiting the darker spots that my female has...??? Am I right on this?

Melissa, a SHT x Tremper will not necessarily give you what you want. All the offspring will be het for the tremper.
If you want more tang and less black spots, you should get a SHTCT or something with lots of tang coloring and less black than the one you have.

It is possible that the tremper or carrot-head trepmer would give you the desired result. It depends on their genetic background. Maybe the breeder could help answer that.

Here is the Leo Im considering...before hitting Extreme's website and now has me thinking about the Carrot Head Trempers.


Ultimately what Im looking for is better Tang color with nice head pattern but not nessecarily Black spotted on the head. Thats why I was thinking Tremper.

Yesh...Kudo's to you Marcia and others like...this genetics thing is hard to get. I know in my head what i wanna get...its just understanding what to cross to get there.

Marcia If I crossed a Blood with a SHT would I be getting a Tang with a bit more reddish hue?

Assuming the father is the Tremper, then the probabilities of the offpsring would be 50% Trempers.

Since the 'Blood' is a type of SHT, I would say this would be a good possibility!
