Hi Everyone,
I recently bought a hovabator with a turbo fan and i'm having a bit of a problem.I builded the incubator how the manual said and turned it on.i bought a digital thermometer and it has the thermometer that comes with it.Now my problem is that both thermometer are marking 85 to 88 degrees and i try to decrease the temperature and nothing happens it stays the same.My goal temperature is 80 degrees so i could incubate for female.the wafer is all the way down and can't go any futher. My room tempearture is 80 Degrees.Any ideas on what i should do?

Jose, does the red light come on still when cranked all the way down? If not try opening the hova with it off when upplugged and getting anbient temps back in. From there plug it back in and see if it still goes up to 85.

I never needed to, but you may need to disconnect the wafer and run it on a true thermostat to keep proper temps.

My last suggestion is to find the coolest area in the house(closet maybe) and put the incubator there because 80 ambient temp is a bit high.

Also I've heard that the turbo fan model doesn't allow the temperature to get low enough for what you need. You might want to try to exchange that model for one that doesn't have the fan.

I'll bet the fan is producing the extra (unwanted) heat! You may be able to disconnect it, otherwise it will be mostly males coming from that incubator.

I found out the hard way that 81-82 for ME wasn't good for temp sexing female SS trempers. The male you got from me was cooked at 82 for nearly 50 days and we both know it's a male. That may have been caused by the higher temps when laid, because I found them after 2 days?? and the incubation temps went from 84 down to 81/82 over a 2 day period before stabilizing.

BTW, how's my little buddy doing?
