Hey everyone! So I'm having a issue/concern for my 3 month old female blizzard. Every time she sheds she comes out of it nice and clean and nothing left on her afterwards. But for some reason her skin looks very dry like it needs to be moisten. I've had her on mealworms for a couple months now with reptivite with d3 covered on them. I recently just switched back to crickets so she is getting more of a supplement rather than mealworms, plus their more nutritional. This happens all the time since i've had her, she's always in her humid hide and sometimes when she comes out she actually looks really nice and her skin looks properly hydrated. But my real concern is why is the skin have like a whitish dryness to it after a shed? Could it be vitamin deficiencies ? lack of hydration? eating only mealworms? I mean could good nutrition be the key factor to all this? Anyone who knows please let me know asap!!

i don't know if i can give you a definate answer, but i do know what you are talking about. Kinda dry and white-ish skin? I only feed mealworms, and none of my geckos currently exhibit that issue, so i think that can be ruled out... Can you please tell us exactly what supplements your using, and how often? What are you gutloading the crickets with? i hope that we can help!

It may just be part of the phenotype/genotype? i have a blizzard (since november) and he often looks dry also.....even after a shed. I feed just crickets (proper dusting routines/schedule) and i keep his moisthide moist. He rotate between the hides but only visits the moist hide around shed-time. Proper temps in place, but i use a weak overhead light to keep airtemps over 70f...maybe too low humidity in our tanks for the blizzard morph?? my humidity averages 25.

I have a blizzard also. She's 2 years old and perfectly healthy. She gets fed Dubia Roaches and superworms gutloaded with repashy bug burger and duested with Repashy Calcium Plus. She often looks "chalky" I don't think it's anything to worry about, because Ozy is in perfect health.
