Matt and I went to this "place" that we rescued/adopted a leo from awhile back...you all may remember him...He has serious MBD, no toes, and is still aneorexic. Well, we went back and looked in the area where the geckos are....EVERY gecko they had had pencil tail and one gecko had stuck shed on it's foot all the way up to its ankle. They shed must have been on there a while because the foot was falling off! :main_angry: Is there any way we can report this to some place? Maybe the headquarters of the business? This is definately neglect to the animals since the gecko we got from them had already been negelected. You think they would learn their lesson! Neglected Animals= Loss of Profit....but I guess they don't care. Does anyone have any info on reporting this? Thanks! Hopefully I'm not going against the TOS, and if I am, someone can delete this or alter it so it's ok on here. :main_yes:

Did you call the condition of these geckos to the attention of the manager/owner of the store? Call Animal Control and report them. See if you can get a few photos with your camera phones, or better yet some close-ups using a better camera.

When I walk into those "places" I try not to even look at the geckos, but I do anyway. This one time, there was a dead leo in one of those magnetic hide things. I told the manager and I was there for an extra 30 minutes telling the reptile "expert" how to take care of leos. Hopefully these places will someday learn how to take care of animals.

Cool... you're in FL...
Contact FL Fish and Wildlife Commission. They will send an officer over for a surprise inspection. We did this with a certain "place" and now they are not allowed to sell reptiles. Ever.
Contacting local animal control won't hurt, either.

I hate places like that...

Good luck!

Thanks all! I will go back and take some pictures. I just don't see how they can ignore the geckos so much that they don't realize something is wrong. I will call animal control and Florida fish and wildlife. I'm on break so it's not like I'm busy with anything else.

A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS ;)

Things like get my blood boiling no matter what the animal and I have shown up in court testifying against a few places :main_thumbsup:

I walked into a local chain store today and found about 20 leos with toothpick thin tails... that was an unpleasant experience... :main_thumbsdown: :(

Remember that they could have shipped like that ;) Those wholesalers could care less about even getting a first shed on a gecko before shipping at $7 each ;)

They could have, but then they shouldn't have been on the sales floor.
