So I finally decided to cave in and get a betta. I couldn't resist, they have some really sweet looking ones in the pet stores now. So I got this lovely double tail turquoise butterfly. Can't get him to flare to save my life but he's already built a huge bubble nest. They had him marked as a delta tail at the store which cracked me up. All their "delta" tails were double tails and probably could have marked up the price some more if they knew better. Their loss my gain. Here's the pics, I took these when I brought him home so that's why he's in his cup still.

This is as close as I got him to flare.

His color is much brighter in person and he looks like he wears blue lipstick.

I need a name for this little guy, any suggestions. Yes I know I'm silly, I name all of my fish.

Nice looking betta. One of the most popular fish and easy to care for. I a have not kept one in over a year, but my daughter has one in her room.

I used to have over 20 but a massive bacterial infection that was very resistant to antibiotics wiped them all out. I swore I wouldn't get them again. Then they started getting the ones that you used to only be able to import from Thailand in stores... I decided I needed one again. Thinking about having a sorority tank now.

I named him Coelacanth. Still not sure why but the word kept getting stuck in my head when I was trying to think of a name.

Aw man, I would die if I saw DT's at my local stores. We found some once and quickly bought them haha.

I'm the same as you, I've had over 20 at once but it seems once you get something in your tanks then they start dropping like flies. :( I only have 12 right now, and one is close to kicking the bucket as well. He somehow got through the seperator in the tank and fought with another male. The first male passed days after, the second is still hanging in there. :( I've been treating him but it doesn't seem to be helping.

My sorority tank was wiped out by a couple of danios I added as dithering fish. I think the danios had something when I put them in. :(

A certain PET COmpany in this area has them in every single store marked as "Delta Tails".

Not too hard to figure out why Coelacanth kept jumpimg in your head, he kind of resembles the "dino fish" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coelacanth

lol yeah, when I told my friend Darcie about the name she was like, "He looks like one". Then I took a second look and realized she was right.
