Just got this new setup done today. What do you guys think? Is the overhead light a problem? There is a UTH under the right side of the vivarium. Thanks for all of the input! :)

It is a bit hard to se the setup in the picture. Could you post a larger pic? As far as I can see (correct me if I am seeing wrong), you have not put a probe themometer on the floor of the warm side. What substrate do you use (sorry for my poor vision)? Your gecko could always use more hides and hiding places :) Do you have a moist hide?

As far as Im concerned, the overhead light could be to bright. An UTH is enough if the floor temps on the warm side is about 90-92 degrees. When I removed my overhead lights from the tank when I got my first gecko, he did so much better! He ate better and became less stressed - he even became quite social and very curious :D

Not sure how to make the picture better :/ We use a UTH on the right end to give them a nice warm end and use the light to keep the over all cage temp at around 80. I take floor temp almost everyday to make sure it is not to hot. The substrate is ceramic tiling that I have done. We put moist paper towels under the cave everyday. When our geckos shed, we make sure to soak them in a small box with hole in it and warm damp paper towels to make sure the shed goes well. That log actually gives them a large hiding spot. It has a lot of holes the crawl through. I probably will switch it cause I think it might be to big. Our geckos have eaten very well and have not had any problems with stress or pooping. This is our original cage that we moved our geckos out of into a 40 gallon tank. Most of our geckos are a little shy. Except for our Het Eclipse, she is a complete social goof.

Thats really nice! It seems like you have got everything in place! I think the log seems really cool with all its hiding places. A really cool thing I have in my tanks, is reptile hammocks :D maybe you want to try those out also. I would love to see pictures of your little geckos btw :D
