Greetings!

My name is Eric and I recently brought home two juvie crested geckos about 6-8 months old. I'm an experienced aquarist and also keep fire belly toads but the wife wanted geckos so here we are. I will post pics as soon as I can, just thought I'd say hi.

Thanks Russell! They have been in their enclosure for only a few days and have been hiding mostly so hard to snap some pics but I will soon.

I have a question on lighting though. I bought a 14" Repti Sun Hood that has a T5 UVB bulb and 6500k LED with white and red lights. The LED seems awfully bright so I haven't turned it on much during acclimation and only been using the UVB for 10-11 hours. Is this ok to use for the whole photoperiod? I've heard extended exposure to UVB can actually be harmful. Temps are mid 70's during day and high 60's at night. Do I really need a small heat lamp or are these temps just fine?

You shouldn't need any additional heating ..... unless it gets below 50s the normal room temp should be just fine. Nice set up, just maybe add some more hanging vines higher up for them to hide in....

But if you are going to spoil them, please separate the two geckos before something drastic happens. After a month in age, they can start to get territorial and one willl bully the other, meaning less food access and potentially the one killing (or trying to) kill the other. I have had this happen to a friend, and have seen the attack with 2 of my own years ago.

Just my 2 cents ....

Thank you for the advice.. I already separated them a week after getting them. Do not have supplemental heating other than a 25w moon bulb just in case but hardly use it as the temps rarely drop below 68 at my house. One is doing great though a little shy, the smaller one may have FTS so I'm a little bummed. She is a bit underweight but ate off my finger tonight and is pretty active at night so I'm not too worried. Evidently she loves peaches but is finicky with CGD. Trying a couple different flavors to see if one takes.
