I always liked trying to make my enclosures blend in with stuff I kept in the house. So that my house didnt look like a pet shop when you walked in. Reicently I have been trying to make some changes over from plastic tubs and glass tanks to more classy wood furniture-like stuff. So here is the first thing Ive managed to have made (yes I cant build anything to save my life - blue prints and ideas is as close as I can get to building anything so I had someone do it for me. ) for my living room. This isnt for geckos but I thought I would share it anyways. Someone might get an idea off it and like to use it to suit their needs. Anyways, I found a man who made trunks (chests); I use to have a huge trunk for a coffee table when I was younger and so I decided to have a display table made for my living room to house one of my largest snakes. Its 4ft x 20" x 18" tall and will house a redtail boa named Peaches. Its still not completely done, but I had him make a chest with windows on the sides and on the top. It opens up easily, and stays open after you let it go thanks to some levers installed inside the door. The lid also latches closed and locks (optional). I just got it today after waiting 2 weeks for him to finish it. I plan on putting some black marble tile down in the bottom and drill some holes for air in the side. The decorations will be pretty basic. Peaches was never one to like to hide. She always laid on top of any sort of hide box I put inside her cage so this is perfect for her. I will have a big peice of sanded drift wood inside with a rock like water dish for her to drink from. (She's not one for soaking in her water dish either thank god.) Heat will be provided by a heat panel under the tile on one side. I plan on running it off rechargable batteries which will be hid under the enclosure so that no cords will be visibly running from it to a wall. The enclosure sets 3 or 4 inches off the ground, on wheels so this will not be hard to do.
