I recently got an enigma for free (because of slight enigma syndrome wich i have not yet seen since i have had him) and i am worried about him not eatting. I know that this is common with this morph but i was wondering if anyone knows anything i can do or if they have had this same thing happen. He was being kepts on sand before i got him but i dont think he is impacted, i have been soaking him and i gave him a little repticaid yesterday.

thanks

In a care sheet that I read said that sometimes can take up to a month for a gecko to settle. I think that you got this gecko last week, so don't need to worry yet. Nevertheless it is true that some enigmas have bad aiming.

Yes i know that it will take a while for him to get used to his new enclosure, but he was rather skinny when i got him in and i read that about enigmas so i was just wondering if anyone had any "Enigma Tips" lol,

Thanks You

hey leah, i have a ton of enigmas and a few of them have extreme enigma syndrome. if you look at the thread where i updated "loopy", you can see how skinny she was when i got her. she's now fat and happy, but it took months to get her like that. i worked with her every feeding my using tongs to feed her supers. it took a while, but now she is eating on her own, with a few misses here and there, lol. the thing with enigmas is that it takes patience and special care. make sure you keep him out of any bright lights as it seems to stress them a lot more than normal leos. get him to eat from tongs or a bowl and he should be fine. of course he might take a little longer to settle due to being enigma as well. good luck with him and keep us updated.

Thank you so much, i have been looking for someone with a lot of experience with the enigma gene. As i didnt exactly plan on having him given to me, i didnt do the most thorough research on the morph, only what i have picked up randomly from threads and caresheets.

From what i knew about the morph, i did put a food dish in with mealies in it, he has a small water dish only because the pet store that gave him to me said he had been "trying to drown himself". He was on sand when i got him so i soaked him lastnight just incase. Im mainly worried because he is currently so skinny and i dont want any more weight loss. My leos are kept in the basement so its very dark (my albino has sensative eyes too).

thank you for the help

no problem, and if you have any other questions, let me know. there are a lot of other people on here that have more experience with enigmas than i do, and im sure they would be happy to chime in as well

I've had the best luck with dubias for my enigmas. I think the mealworms were just too small. Supers might be good, too. I have a couple bad strikers and they both eat dubias.

i have some that do great with dubia, but my really bad ones are way too slow to catch them. my girl loopy seems to only be able to catch mealies or supers
