I just got a new male gecko. I have had leopard geckos before. The thing with this gecko is he likes to defecate in his food dish. The first time I washed it out really well and put it in a different spot. This morning I see that he did it again. I dont like this lol. What should I do....turn it into his litter box and get him a different food dish?

Or make him a litterbox. I made one for my leo and he uses it exclusively. Just an old tie box and some duct tape and desert sand. See:

Also I don't leave a food dish in with my leo. He won't use one so I kinda don't have that worry but he doesn't mess in his humid hide which is now directly next to his litterbox. Just the litterbox. If you DO decide to go with a litterbox, make sure you bait it with one of his poos when you install it and always leave 1 in there when you clean it out until he is using it on a regular basis to attract him back to that as the potty area.

sweet thanks. I did not know that not leaving a food dish in there was an option. I just always have done that.

Collect his poops and put them in the corner where you want him to use as toilet. Meanwhile, don't use that food dish; perhaps take him out to feed or change another dish. When his usual toilet spot is not available and several of his poops are piled up in one corner, he'll learn to use that area as toilet. When he established his new toilet spot, you can use that food dish again (and clean out that poopy mountain).

so I took the dish out and put a paper towel there. He pooped in that corner on the paper towel. So there is some positive thing to say about today :)
