Hello, I got a new leopard gecko yesterday.
When i got Her, i brought Her home and into a seperate tank so i could clean Her (Warm water gently) and examine it.
- It looked slightly thin, a little thin by the tail aswell
This sparked my worries of
.annorexia
.cryposporidium and other parasites
Reasonably i think it is simply a thin gecko, she was in the cage at the store (not ***** or ******** or any of those cheapo stores) with 2 others in a 20 long, maybe they werent all fed equaly or maybe im over reacting. I know that she is young, definatly less than a 8 months.
. An hour before i took this pic (IN ATTACHMENT) i gave her 6 mealworms and she ate them right up. It seemed to put a little girth to her stomach area wich i was glad to see.
She is a tremper albino from what i understand. She is around 6-6 1/2 inches long. PLEASE VIEW THE ATTACHMENT its a PICTURE OF HER
. If you can provide any advice, i am quite worried (even if it may be un-reasonable.

Yes matter what you quarantine even if it is a respected breeder.

She is now quarantined. She has pooped.. I saw red sand. Similar to the sand product that i saw in the petstore. LooksLike she ingested some, this could be the cause of the anorexic figure?

You do not soak in olive oil, but give her 1 ml of olive oil (I believe it's 1ml) to help move the sand. Soak in warm water is correct though.

Definitely keep her away from your other animals and maybe get a fecal done. They're pretty cheap and that way you can rule out if it's parasites or not. Good luck!

Update

she would eat the waxie i gave her, (this is understandable because she ate 8 mealworms the other day when i fed her)
I did notice one thing, Sometimes when she walks slowly, she has a stutter in her foot. This does not happen every time she walks slowly but i did observe it. Is this a sign of anything?

Update: After soaking in warm water up to shoulders and a small drop of oliviol placed on the nose and then licked off- she pooped again. It was diarhea, and there were some more pieces of that red sand substrate that the petstore used. Less peices than the last feces had. do you think this is impaction? or a parasite? and should i get a feces test...
Note: She is active, roams around the tank during night hours.

It sounds like she's slowly getting all the sand out, you could repeat the olive oil, but that may be what made her poop runny. If you're really worried, follow up with a fecal test. The slight tremor on walking may be a sign of a slight-as-of-yet-not-serious calcium deficiency. You definitely want to let her have a capful of free-range calcium and vitamin-mineral supplements.

Also, that she ate on the first day is a miracle. Let her get settled a bit more before you worry too much. She is a tad on the skinny side, but not alarmingly so.

You're doing just fine. :D
