Hi all, kinda stumbled into the world of reptiles, my name is chris
a little background on how i got into the hobby
i've always loved weird animals lol, well my girlfriend had 2 AFTs, that in a mix up of communication were given away without permission, we then got our own place and we bought her brothers ball python, which we have since gotten rid of
well at the house that we live in, we discovered there is a colony of at least 8-9 Tokay Geckos, ranging from hatchlings to full grown (pics to come of the ones ive been able to photograph)
so having them outside i was like a 5 year old in a candy store i went insane, every night id get my flashlight with a red lens and sit outside and watch them.
well there was a reptile show in town and we went, and well she bought me a tokay (shes been sexed), so i was super excited, i had one of my own, and shes in a 29gallon i think
well i started to feel bad cuz she was all by herself, so i made a deal with my girl, if i can catch one of the ones outside i can keep it, so my hunt began, we got an extra 10gall for quarintine(sp?) and i started stalking them trying to sort them out and seeing which one i wanted, of course me being me i wanted the biggest one, well that guy scares the sh!t outta me, so i settled for what i believe to be the big female**
**my determination on their sex is based on observed behavior, the biggest one hides by itself on an opposite end of the patio from the others, where the second biggest one hides with upto if my count is correct 7 others**
caught put her in the 10gall, and showed her to my girlfriend, she said because that was our deal i could keep it, but then catch kicked in, due to her size and the fact that size = age, she was giving me so much sh!t for keeping her, so i let her free, so the hunt resumed
a few nights later i found one by itself, unluckily it was hiding on a fence end with lots of hiding spots, so i found a stick (cliche?) and started to nudge it where i wanted it (hasnt been sexed yet) to go, then i caught it, etc etc
its now in the 29 gall with my female, the WC is prolly half as big as the one i got from the show (unsure of if shes CB or WC), they are both doing GREAT!!!!!, good color, both have had a shed since ive gotten them, no problems with that, and great appetites
so after a few weeks, i wanted to surprise my girl, since she missed her AFTs so much i found one for sale and got him and surprised her with it, hes in his own 10Gall and is doing great, hes a lil shy, kinda stays in his hide ALOT, im a lil upset that before we got him he had dropped his tail, it adds character to him but i would have loved to get one with a good tail
well thats my long drawn out into lol, as i said ill post up pics in a bit of the ones we have in tanks and the ones from outside:main_thumbsup:
