New to the forum, just wanted to show off my cage i built. I went for a Aztec/Mayan ruins look. No live plants, yet. Only live frog moss.
It houses an adult male crested, one juvinile gargoyle, and 2 Pdf's. Surprisingly, they all get along very well with no troubles. Now for some pics...

It started as an entertainment center for my tv that i built in high school woodshop but my tv went out so i decided it was time for a project:

At first it was intended to be for a snake i.e. the lighting setup.

So i switched my mind and went the gecko route. After cleaning thoroughly, i cut plywood 1/4'' thick to cover the back up. Siliconed all the corners and edges. After bought a piece of oak to put in bottom front of cage for the substrate. Measured and got some sliding glass doors.

When all done, changed the lighting and got some UV/UVB. I decided to go with coconut husk for its humidity capability as substrate, but didnt want the wood rotting so i put a coat of sealant and lined the bottom with laminate tile.
Then came the "decorating" part. Used cork tile as backgroung:

Some vines:

Some fake plants & grapevine wood:

And as for the ruins look i got an Aztec feathered serpant head, which i drilled a whole through the mouth for the repti-fogger, and a little pillar/courtyard thing from a pet store for a fish aquarium:

Nice set up, but you should NEVER mix species.

It doesn't matter if you think they get along, many wouldn't mix in the wild, so there is no need to do it in captivity because "they get along"

There's plenty of horror stories out there about disasters happening from mixing species, and no one can live life saying, "nothing has happened yet.." That's like putting a leo on sand and saying, "Well he hasn't become inpacted yet" Why take the chance?

You should put a lot more plant cover also.

Ariana, crested and garg care are exactly the same. The only thing some people do differently is feed Gargoyle's gargoyle gecko diet, but I've heard they do fine on Crested gecko diet.

They need room temps 70-79, nothing higher then 80. I keep mine at around 74. They need more height in a tank then width. Lot's of plant cover, and about 70-80 percent humidity, which can be achieve by misting 2-3 times a day. They are nocturnal, so you feed at night time when they are most active. They do not need UVB/UVA lighting.

They eat a powder you mix with water called Crested Gecko diet, this eliminates the need to feed insects.

Gargoyles are known for being aggressive to cagemates. it's just a matter of time before the crested is missing a tail or worse.

Yes i have read up on the Gargs being a bit aggressive towards cagemates... and i am taking consideration to seperate the two in the near future, BUT as long as i dont see a problem im sticking with my setup.

So is that supposed to be Quetzalcoatl, Gukumatz, Tepeu, or just one of the feathered serpents from the Temple of Feathered Serpents in Teotihuacan?

Ok so i dont know if you are being genuine, or just trying to be smart with me... but the aztec feathered serpant is the Quetzalcoatl. :)
And just for reference, Tepeu is not even a serpant. :main_robin:

Nice tank man I wouldnt mind doing a mixed tank with some tokays white lines and pdf Looks good!

I would think the tokays would see the pdf's as prey, probably not a great idea.

Great setup however. The serpent head with the fogger in it is sick!

When i said Tepeu i was referring to the title associated with the K'iche'-Maya God Gukumatz, whose name when translated is, "sovereign plumed serpent." I guess i should have been more specific. The point is, i love that decoration.
