I was wondering if anybody knows a good incubator I can get for around 200$other then a hovabator because I have one of those right now and it is not working to well for me, I have a thermostat on it and it is still flucuation between 84f and 88f.

Thanks in advance for your input!

I just bought one, it will arrive this Friday. I'll test is abilities as soon as it arrives. I bought it because it has a cooler. My room often exceeds the desired temperature for females, giving me mostly males. I'll switch incubators as soon as possible. PM me in a while for details.

Can't go wrong with Natures Spirit. I love it, very stable temperature and holds the temp very well a well. Lots of room for expansion, no cold spot...pretty much same temperature throughout the incubator. Very well built!

ReptiPro 5000

Hi guys this is Chris at ReptiPro.

I realize the ReptiPro 5000 may look like the think geek mini fridge but there are some differences.

Yes we used a similar outer design for the incubator as this cut down on costs in a big way and we thought it looked great. Notice the window on our unit is much bigger and the digital readout is blue.

This is not the same thing!

The main differences is the units ability to hold temperature and humidity.

The mini fridge at think geek can fluctuate wildly and displays a temperature not consistent to the temperature within the unit. Also it does not hold humidity and will actually dry out the contents just like an oven or fridge would.

We upgraded the inner workings to hold the temperature much better and the humidity stays in the upper 90% consistently.

If you have any questions feel free to contact us at our website reptipro.com

We have great success with this unit and wanted to offer the herp community something much better than the styro junk.

Thanks guys and happy herping!

Im looking to replace 2 hovabators because I am really beginning to not like them and I have been looking around and was considering the Repti pro. I looked at all the others and the the cooling feature was really what stood out from all the rest. The only thing Im wondering about is size, it says it can hold approx 100 eggs I believe, so what type of container would you use to maximize space?

I have a couple questions on your claim that yours is better...

I was looking at purchasing the one on thinkgeek aswell because all appears to be the same, but theirs is $175.00 cheaper...

The fact that yours may have a bigger window or that the readout is blue instead of green does not matter one bit. This one still has a big enough window to where you can see everything with no problem, and the fact that it has a light on the inside aswell eliminates most of that problem anyways. And whether the readout is blue or green, temp is temp.

You say that "The mini fridge at think geek can fluctuate wildly and displays a temperature not consistent to the temperature within the unit..." ...well if you don't open the door, wouldn't the temp stay relatively the same? And wouldn't the temperature reading shown be determined by the thermostat inside the unit? So if the temp drops a degree or so, it would then be shown... right?

You also say "Also it does not hold humidity and will actually dry out the contents just like an oven or fridge would" ...Well, wouldn't that problem be solved if you sat a tupperware container with water in it on the bottom level? And it seems to me that the seal on this door would seal just as well.

I'm not trying to say that you are lying or anything, but i personally really don't see that much of a difference and why yours should be $175 more. And i just so happen to be in the market right now for a good incubator before this upcoming breeding season, and when i saw the one on think geek, after looking at yours, i was pretty much sold on it. I mean come on, it is pretty much the same thing as yours, and for $150-$175 cheaper... tell me why i should buy yours instead. And why yours is really worth the $175 more. And for my purpose of using it for incubating leopard gecko eggs, which will be in there for only about 40 days or so, i don't see how having this one will not give me the desired results, even if i have to open the door once real quick to simply refill the water in the tupperware container at the bottom.

Wow Statik that is a pretty harsh post! I was only pointing out some of the visual differences. The internal differences cannot be seen in the photo.

The main difference is that this units temp does not fluctuate wildly because of a better quality thermostat with a tighter heat anticipator setting and also that it holds the humidity. Yes the think geek could have a water dish added to keep the humidity up but the heating/cooling unit will still dry out the air. With the ReptiPro 5000 water only needs to be added every 3 months or so. To us that seemed like an incredible feat because all the other incubators we tried had to have water added all the time.

We have never had an egg dry out in the ReptiPro 5000. I am sorry that we chose a case design so close to this other product but it really helped with production cost on the units.

We are currently working on a larger unit and will be sure to use a unique design so there is no mistake with that one.

Sorry for the confusion and if you have any questions just shoot me an email - [email protected]

LOL, my bad man... that was NOT my intent at all... trust me. I was not in any way trying to be harsh or bash you or anything.

...But i'm sure u can see things from my point of view as a consumer looking to purchase one of these products... to the untrained eye, all appears to be the same.

Nevertheless, i will deffinately be giving you a call. Thanx for your reply!
