I had no plans to pick up any more Leos this year as my gecko budget was pretty well spent. However, I saw him and I got offered an amazing deal, so I couldn't say no. Haha

He is still young, but I will be pairing him to my RAPTOR female next year, hopefully. I also would like to pick up another girlfriend or two for him later this year or next.

Meet Chase! So named because he is a runner. As soon as I opened the container he took off like a shot, so I had to chase him down. He is the Carl Lewis of Leopard Geckos. Haha

Please excuse the poor quality iPhone/bathroom sink pics. I couldn't put him back in his container but I didn't want to chase him again. I'm sure he will calm down when he settles in, and I will get better shots.

I will be pairing him with my RAPTOR female, Chula.

Looks like he has some beautiful coloration! Does he have any eclipsing in the eyes?

Thank you! I'm hoping they're light coloration will play well off each other. I love his lavender as well. :)

He does have the Eclipse "Snake Eyes". Not sure how to put it in number terms as I have seen 50/50, 50/10, 10/10, etc, but they go back about halfway on each side. Would that be 50/50 for the %? Once Chase settles in I will try to get a couple good eye shots with my phone. :)

Got a few new pics of him while I was cleaning his cage and feeding last night.

This is how he has spent the last 3 nights. I think he is trying to tell me he wants to be wild and free. During the day he goes into his hides, but he spends hours at night just hanging there. Odd, right?!

Some other shots while he was out for a few minutes. When I got a better look at his eyes one is almost completely black and the other half snake eye. I need to get a bit of shed off of his head as well.

You know, my young male has been doing that lately as well (hanging against the wall). I've been trying to figure out whether something's wrong with the setup or he's just bored...

Chase is really lovely. It will be great to see how his color breaks up as he gets older.

I just looked in on him and he is hanging again. I'm guessing bored or doing it because he figured out he could, but IDK. Everything is checking out in his tank as far as temps, plenty of hides, etc. I'm just going to monitor him and see what happens after he settles in for awhile. As long as he isn't hurting himself I'm not too worried. He just looks like a little weirdo. Ha

Thank you! I am hoping he doesn't lose too much of his beautiful lavender as he grows up. Thad at Ohio Gecko said his dad had quite a bit even as an adult, so I'm hopeful. :)

Update on my new guy:

He is doing well and eats great. He has stopped hanging off the side of his tank. lol He is a total scaredy cat, though. When I go to feed him or clean his cage he hisses and snaps at me. He also runs and hides if he even senses me watching him eat, no matter how subtle I am, but comes right back out as soon as I look away. With some work I'm sure he will calm down and become more friendly and sociable. The few times I have had to pick him up he has calmed down in my hands with no biting or hissing.

Nice gecko... The % in eclipses eyes refers to the amount of solid black pigment or red pigment in raptors. If you see it listed as 60/40 90/10 it's usually the first of the 2 listed... 60% and 90%

Thanks! I was thinking percent , but not sure how it worked. If it was the white or black that you measured. And if the first number was one eye and second number was the other, or both numbers were one eye. That helped clear it up. [emoji4]

UPDATE: My little Chase is not a male after all, she had us fooled! Ha

I had gotten her to the point she had a thicker tail, then... She has been giving me problems this last month. She had a better tail and had grown, but still little and started ovulating. With the ovulations she has been on a hunger strike for the last month and has laid two slugs. I am feeding her GGG Slurry because she has lost a lot of weight from it, but she will only lick a bit off of her nose. I'm getting worried that I may lose her soon unless she starts really eating. [emoji20]

On the plus side, as of now she is still active and pretty energetic. Not 100% her normal self, but I'd say 85%.

You know... I knew leopard geckos scent marked, but it never occurred to me that he might mark the walls. Thanks for the theory. I'll have to watch and see if he does it more after cleaning time... :)

Interesting. But since he is actually a female, would she still have been doing the same thing? Isn't that more of a male trait to mark? I've never seen any of my other females do it. I had seen my males rub on things before to mark, but not by hanging on the side for hours. LOL
