New Leo's eating habits...

I just got a new Leo last week and being a newbie I have a few questions and the typical new parent concerns. Any advise you have will be much appreciated.

1) She likes mealworms when I dump them out, or even hand them to her, but I have yet to see her eat them out of the bowl. I bought a $2 bowl that was a lower profile yesterday, but the other was only an inch or inch and a half tall. Any other suggestions?

2) Her tail is pretty skinny, but she seems to be eating good. Probably 10 or so 1/4 inch crickets each evening (and those hand fed mealies, the bowl stays full though). Should I attempt to 'fatten' her up with a waxworm or two each week or just continue the regular schedule.

Since your new baby is still getting used to her surroundings, she may just not know where the food is coming from (except when she sees the "magic hand of mealies" :p ). Have you counted the number of worms you put in the bowl to see that she is definitely not eating any from there? Or maybe after eating cricks and the mealies you handfeed she's just full????

It sounds like you are doing a good job and she will plump up quickly. Just make sure you are gutloading the feeders and getting a fecal exam at the vet will set your mind at ease about parasites or any other diseases that may be hindering her growth.

Mine wouldent eat out of his bowl for a while until one night he went exploring and found it full of mealies.
