Hi Folks,
I'm a father of 3 and each one of my kids has a pet leopard gecko. I got the first for my daughter (who had been begging for one, I had no previous interest), and seeing how cool they are, my other kids then had to have one, too.
So, we've had 3 geckos for about six months or so and I've learned quite a bit about the critters. I really like them. Kids being kids, I'm the one who takes care of them, but I knew that going in I appreciate how easy they are to keep. We have two that are probably 9 months or so old and a 3rd that is probably about 6 months, though those are educated guesses (I should write down dates).
I've made a few mistakes along the way. I had 3 living in a 30 gallon aquarium. I know that multiple leos housed in the same enclosure is generally frowned upon. Well, my hand was forced when one of the trio turned out to be a male (I was sure they were all female, until I witnessed two of them, er, "fighting", then upon closer inspection, realized what I actually have!). With my inexperience, I couldn't sex them early, but it's obvious now what's what. Now the two girls still live together in the 30 and the male is in his own seperate 20 gallon aquarium.
In any case, this seems like a nice forum, so I figure I'd join. Things have gone smoothly so far, but It's only a matter of time before something comes up that I'll need advice with.
I just posted some pictures of my son's leo in the 'show off' section, as his is the only one that I haven't been able to figure out what kind of morph it is, so take a look if you're curious.
Thanks!
