Not only am I new to this forum, I'm new to geckos. At a dart frog swap with my boyfriend yesterday, I was graciously given two geckos, my first! We practically have a zoo already, so although I absolutely trust my boyfriends ability to care for them completely, i'd like to educate myself so that I can learn their husbandry as well.
The man who gave them to me stated they were African geckos. We think we have narrowed it down to genus Hemidactylus, but given so many species I'm not sure which it might be. My boyfriend thinks it is frenatus but online sources state it is primarily from Asia so that conflicts with information from the owner, unless the name is misleading. Any help determining what they are is much appreciated, i've attached two photos of the juvenile followed by a photo of the adult.
In addition, I'm also hoping for recommendations about good beginners books or websites. Everyone has to start somewhere, so I'm looking forward to beginning my reptile education! Thank you to all
