Hey everyone. I always hate introducing myself in forums. It feels like being the new kid in school after everyone has already been there for 3 months.

Anyway, I currently don't own any geckos. Many, MANY years ago I owned two leopard geckos. They were great, but due to moving and not having the space for them, I did the responsible thing and gave them to a friend of mine that kept many herps and would treat them right.

Now, some 15 years later, I'm ready to get back into things. This time around, I don't want to just get some big box, pet store gecko, but a nice, healthy specimen for a show cage.

No interest in starting a breeding program any time soon, but should I decide to in the future, I'd like to have something with known/proven genetics.

I live in Daytona Beach, and unfortunately I've had zero luck in finding any breeders or reputable dealers in the area, so I took to the internet and found this place. Forums have helped me in the past with my fish hobby and figured it would be the same with this.

I saw there's a repticon in Orlando in May, and a reptile expo here in Daytona in August, but hoping to find something before then.

If anyone knows of any breeders in the east central Florida area, that would be great. If not, I still look forward to getting to know you all sharing stories and pictures with my fellow hobbyists.

Welcome to Gecko Forums! I'm sure you'll be able to find a few breeders somewhere nearby as I know I've seen a bunch from FL but can't name any off the top of my head. I moved a lot and got rid of all but one of mine while the chaos ensued but got back into them in 2012 and haven't regretted it at all! The leopard gecko world is a super exciting place!

Hope you find a breeder and learn all you need in the meantime around here!!

Thanks for the welcome guys.

There are indeed quite a few breeders in Florida, but most south Florida or west coast of Florida. No biggie though. I'm not in a rush. I'm going to take my time setting up his home first. Got the 20L tank, UTH, thermostat, regular incandescent light, ceramic heat lamp, digital thermometer, hygrometer and a bunch of Styrofoam to do some DIY hides/caves/decor. Once I'm satisfied how it looks and that the temp and humidity are stable, then I'll start seriously looking for my new Leo.

Until then, I'll be sitting around here to see who I'm going to buy from and what kind I want. I've always been partial to the Diablo Blancos. But I've seen some gorgeous tangs and W/Y's that have caught eye as well.

And no worries. I'll be taking lots of pics :D
