I saw this guy at a big chain store. (Not the same store location I work at). I raised a concern that he seemed a little thin. That stores vet said him and the others just like him were "perfectly happy and healthy" I was not very satisfied with this..I bought this little guy. The vet a my store said he could not currently call it "malnourished" but that he does have nose rub and is a little thin. I am supposed to soak, feed, give special attention (of course).

What does everyone else think? I'm a crazy for thinking he looks deathly?

**** Also, all these hatchling babies were in an enclosure with a CROCODILE GECKO!!!****

OMG! He looks totally emaciated to me and I'm by no means an expert, just an animal lover. IMO he's FAR from healthy.

It seems that you may have just saved his life :)

Oh my! That baby looks almost anorexic....I would feed it foods with high fat like waxworms or silk worms. Jeeezzz. Good job in saving him/her! I hope you can get some skin on its bones!

If thats healthy, I would hate to see an unhealthy gecko. I would get that store vets Name and Business address and suggest to everyone you know not to use that Vet. Obviously they don't know what they are talking about.

Sounds like your vet needs to educate themselves on reptiles as well. IMO

It's just so upsetting because it actually turned into a huge thing between our two stores. And to top it off..I came out looking like a crazy idiot once their vet told them he was fine.

Yeah, and the fact that my vet (who is an exotics vet..) said he didn't look that bad..didn't help too much either. I'm just very very VERY frustrated at this point.

Here are the ones I helped to raise at OUR store..they are a little bit older that the one I have now (at the time I took this picture of them). That was many many weeks ago. They have since grown into big happy dudes/dudettes that went to good homes.

I wasn't trying to be mean to you, but how can a vet look at that and say it's not on death's bed if not helped immediately.

needs water, calcium and food ASAP.

Oh trust me, I know. And I didn't need to go to med school to know that. That's why it pisses me off. Who are people who are not educated about leopard geckos going to believe...me...or a vet? You know?

There is a gecko at my pet store like this. It is a blizzard who looks like it has been injured, as it has a large red/bleedingspot on it's head and is as thin as a stick. Every reptile in the store looks like this, eccept for one patternless.

Well, he passed away last night. But, I can't say I didn't try.

I wonder how the rest of their geckos are doing....

I'm so sorry that the baby didn't make it. You did a great thing just bringing it home.

Yeah. I mean..I do work there (just not THERE) and I've already made a big stink over they whole thing.

I don't even think I'll go back (even though he is under that 14 day guarantee).

I know I was right..and that their vet was SO wrong. I feel bad for all the geckos they have now...and all the ones they'll have in the future..
