These are a few color testing photos,
taken to see how my newly constructed
flash box works.
As I look around at empty product containers
I try to come up with other uses,
instead of discarding........
Here is the flash photo Butt wipe light box.
Ideal for procrastinating project builders.
First the gecko photos:
Then a box photo of what they were taken in.
A no construction, inexpensive, white, wet wipe bathroom box.
It seemed to get hold of true gecko
colors....inside and only using the camera flash.
No wash outs or color errors.
Did not use my Kodachrome film. Paul S.
Take care. Hj

Good idea! The third one down looks like he has a secret language written on his/her back, hehe. What is the morph of the first? I'm still learning :)

it's a start...

here's another means, providing more room to work but a little more involved.

http://www.digital-photography-school.com/how-to-make-a-inexpensive-light-tent

I constructed something similar, but used PVC pipes and joints to create a 2 ft cubed frame and then bought a white twin sheet, velcro from a fabric store, foamcore of color choice or poster board of color choice. I mention this as you could still get coloration anomalies with your flash bouncing light outside of that from the wet wipes box. Photos look great nonetheless!

PVC cube:
8x 2ft length 1/2 inch PVC pipe (2 ft is approx, you'll need to cut to size to factor in additional lengths from elbows if you want perfectly 2 ft cubed)
4x 1/2 inch PVC 90° elbow with threaded side inlet
4x 1/2 inch PVC threaded male adapter
4x 1/2 inch PVC caps

Cut 4 pieces of PVC pipe to form frame, attach to 90° elbows to form a square. Side inlets should point down.
Cut 4 more pieces of PVC pipe and attach threaded male adapter to one side and cap to other. Forms "legs".
Screw legs into frame.

Sheet:
Cut sheet so that it will form fit over PVC frame, covering the back, left and right sides, and top. Sew sides together to form cover. Attach velcro where you feel needed; I added it to the top front at 3 evenly spaced places and to the front 2 legs with 2 evenly placed pieces.

The results:

The photographic setup:
Nikon D300 with Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 micro lens. An SB-600 (firing left to right)and SB-800 (firing right to left) and 2-100W CFL daylight bulbs (6500 kelvin temp) shining overhead through top of softbox.

Thanks Tosha.
....it's a quickie way (no time constructing:main_thumbsup:)
to get decent colors inside.
The first gecko is a Mack Snow.
Yes, that is secret language on his back.
I'm presently taking a course,
"reading gecko markings 101",
but struggling on the non English, so I can't read it yet.
Sorry......
If you are ordering a box, please specify with or
without wipes.:D
Take care. Hj...

Chris, thank you for posting that.
Your gecko photos show the great results for a little involvement.
And great on the instruction part too. Very Clear.
I pulled up your video link.....but got hung up for some reason.....so I didn't get to see it.
I had seen other Box videos but never using PVC.
I like PVC built stuff.....It lasts.

Now on the Lighter crazy HJ humor comment
attempt.....
As my box name applied:
"The Butt Wipe Photo Box"
It's the #2 box....:D
Take care. HJ
