I recieved Alexis yesterday from a girl off craigslist.... She originally was trying to sell alex with a 10 gallon aquarium(was said to be a 20 but its not) a under tank heater, mulch for bedding, one hide spot(no humid hide at all), and a mangled up heat lamp, for 75 bucks.. But she ended up bringing her to me for free.. This poor little lady(alex) is missing almost all of her back toes and several of her front toes.. She had stuck shed on her nose and above one of her eyes... I have to basically watch her when I feed them because she cannot catch her food really. She aims and misses by at lease a few inches, if not more.. She walks bo-legged like. She seems mentaly challenged or something. And Im almost wondering if she may have the start of MBD with the way she walks? I could be wrond, but she is def bad off comapired to me other leos..

Awww... with the spotting she has she almost looks like she could have some enigma in there which could explain the bad aim, but that could also be more stuck shed over the eyes that you're missing at the moment. Also if you're worried about MBD setting in I'd suggest a good liquid calcium suppliment for a couple weeks until you get her back up and maybe even some reptaide. In the meanwhile just make sure you quarantine her and practice good sterilization skills until you know for sure the extent of her ailements in order to protect any other herps you might have. She looks like a real sweetie. Good save. :main_thumbsup:

Thanks! :)
Yea I forgot to mention that she is in quatantine. Cant be too safe, I dont want anything to happen to my other leos. Ive rescued before in the past so I know about all the extra precautions :). I was wondering if she might have enigma in her as well because my fav male I use to have had enigma in him. Him and his babies did that enigma spin, but was never off on the feeding as she is. So im not sure right now. I gave her a good soak last night and most of that sruck shed on her eyelid and nose has came off. I have a moist hide in with her now and everything she needs :). Ill pick up some of that liquid calcium tomorrow and the reptaide probably :).

There really is no reason to go and buy a liquid calcium. If you have a powdered Ca supplement w/o vit D3 you can mix that with water and it will do just fine. I would also suggest giving her a lil warm dip in a water bath just to help rehydrate a bit more. It will also help take care of some of that stuck shed.

As far as the hunting thing you can either put meal worms in a bowl and the gecko will find them or else you can tong feed. You might want to attempt supers as they are rather large but yet still slow enough for not so good hunters.

Ive been giving her the warm soaks :). And thanks for the powder suggestion! I already have that so thats great. As for feeding, I make sure to leave some in a bowl as well as keeping count of the ones she has eaten. Just to be sure she is eating well
