Well, I broke down and did it. came across a steal of a tank. a 20 gallon long for $7. it was modded by the original owner for a turtle tank, but will serve fine for what sammi needs. I also cut some slate tiles and used the left overs to make a type of dry hide on the warm side. BTW to anyone who is looking at slate tile for substrate, find a place that will cu tit for you. the home depot here no longer cuts tile and I was forced to do it with a hacksaw and chip the edges a little with a hammer and chisel. the temps are taking quite a while to get up to were they need to be, but are surely getting there.

Man that's a nice setup and what a steal at 7 bucks for a 20 long! I got my 40 breeder used also for 30 bucks. Lowes cut the slate tile for mine and I ended up putting sand under them so the temps would stay in the 90's after it got over 100 with just repticarpet and tile. A thermostat would be even better though.

yeah. the temps are way different with this tank. im gonna need a new UTH to cope. im having to run both the UTH and my heat lamp on my thermostat just to keep it 88-92 degrees on the tiles in the warm hide. then again I may be measuring the wrong place...
