I got this tank from someone awhile ago, its 29 gal i belive, i originally used it to house my koi fish but i had to transfer him to a bigger one cause he got to big for it. I was wondering if this may be to big to use as a leopard geko tank, right now I only have one but I do plan on getting more, I was afraid it my be too big what with heating wise and all, and its wide not tall.So could I or bad idea?

I'm new to all this but wouldn't you want more surface area over volume in a tank for Loe's? My new cage is in the thread below this one and you can see how Big it is. I just need another light and a UTH and He's gonna be in heaven than I'll give him two girlie's:D :main_thumbsup: !!!

The only thing I can think of reading was that you'll need to watch their eating better. Be extra careful the crickets are not hiding away. I only feed mealies. One will eat them out of the dish, the other I have to serve each night.

It's true about the temps. If you notice the full cage isn't being used, then try adding a 2nd UTH. I have a 20 gallon with 1 uth & the male goes all over the place including the upper level which isn't heated.

For a 29 gal that's more tall than wide, I think you could fit 2 or 3 normal sized leos, but they do need more surface area since they're not arboreal. Watch them carefully for bullying and aggression because it won't be 100% guaranteed that they'll get along - most of the time they will, but there are those odd balls :p LOL.

Also, since you will be housing a male with a female(s), you should check if they're breeding - if they are, you'll need to separate the eggs for incubation and make sure the hatchlings have a home separate from their parents.

Also I have another question but didnt want to start a new thread. I have this Under tank heater, ive had it for a year now and never took it out of the package because after i got it i read how it could be bad for your gecko and other reptiles. but i noticed alot of people here use them so are they now safe or are you regulateing the temp somehow?
