I have been reading the forums a lot lately. I have four geckos in a tank and I was wondering if one is pregnant? I thought that they were all females, but me thinking that one is pregnant then there might of been a mistake along the way. So if I post some pictures of all geckos would anyone be able to tell for sure if one or more is pregnant and if so identify the male? Thank you for your help.

if you post clear vent pictures we should be able to help identify male or female for you. but it will be obvious once you see the difference. the male will have two bulges at the base of the tail and you should clearly see dark preanal pores in a "v" shape. the females should not have these. as far as being gravid, you should be able to see the eggs through the skin if she is far enough along.

yeah she looks gravid to me, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's been with a male either. sometimes females will produce unfertilized eggs and will either lay them or re-absorb them. is there one of the geckos in there that looks male?

I'm going to agree that rafiki is a male and if he was with the female, the father.

omg thank you so much well I can stop referring to him as a she. and you think that the others are females for sure. If Tequila is prego how much longer do you think till she will lay them and what are the chances rafiki got her pregnant?

if he has been the only male with her, then yeah he's probably the sire. i would dare to assume that he has probably at least tried to mate with the other females as well. it's what males do, lol. it's hard to tell when she will lay, but the eggs will get larger and more visible as she gets closer. you will see her start to dig before she lays as well. i would make sure and provide her with a lay box with either moist vermiculite or moist orchid moss. if you aren't ready for breeding i would suggest moving him to his own enclosure. if he stays in there with the other girls, you are gonna have a bunch of babies in a few months.

Thanks fuzzy I know what you mean males they think with their "head" sometimes. I am thinking of breeding just for my self so keeping it small if its something i like or find fascinating I might take it up. when I thought that she was pregnant I immediately made a hide to lay in with moss that I spray and keep at 80 humidity and trying to keep her calcium up and dust her food good. She does not eat as much as she used to so I am trying to keep a few crickets just in case and feeding her meal and super worms. i made a incubation just in case.

sounds good and no problem at all. as far as breeding, research, research, research. there are a ton of threads on this forum that will help you out. and never be afraid to ask if you need to.

I have read a ton the last three days on the forum and herp sites and videos. In your opinion what is the time from pregnant to egg laying and time frame from egg laying to hatching?

visually gravid to egg laying depends on a lot of different conditions. usually the timetable is about two to three weeks, but could be longer. once she lays her first two eggs, she could continue to lay two eggs every two to three weeks for 8 weeks or longer. as far as the time from laying to hatching, that will depend on incubation temperatures. i incubate for females at 82 degrees and for males at 90 degrees. eggs incubated at the lower temps usually take around 50-60 days, and at higher temps have been known to hatch in a little over 30 days in some cases. the temperature that you incubate will help determine what sexes the babies will hatch out as, but it's not 100% accurate. i would suggest since you are starting out small that you incubate for females at between 82 and 83 degrees. that way you can house them together if space is limited.

i honestly would not suggest breeding enigma x enigma. you could have issues with the offspring and may have to cull them. if you are going to breed, you have to be prepared to cull in my opinion. as far as the outcome of that pairing, you are going to have a chance of producing mack snow enigma het bells, enigma het bells, mack snow het bells, and normal het bells.
