Newb but learning from NJ

Hey guys, name is Rui from New Jersey. Have a baby leopard gecko in a 10 gallon w the all the amenities, just trying to balance temperature between both sides of tank. Ive only had him for 3 days now, but I've been researching for a month or so now (far from a pro). Ive visited various forums and felt that after reading a few posts from users here that this is where ill set up camp. Hope to see u all around, later!

Thanks guys, I've so far have been feeding him every 2 days 6 baby crickets coated in calcium and v3 every night. This is when he is most active so far, dose his struts, stance then goes in for the kill. "Des" is so bad ass, so glad i got em. Besides that he's very attached to both his cubby's (one moist, one dry) I've been leaving him alone so he can adjust and get settled before actually trying to get my hand in there and see how he interacts. Any pointers from the more exp?? =]

Hi, Rui,

For a baby gecko, you can certainly feed every day. When they are growing, they can eat a ton of food! Also, I would get a reptile multivitamin and alternate between dusting with calcium+D3 and dusting with multivitamin. Some folks also make a mixture of the two supplements and dust with that.

I have to say that I love Repashy Calcium Plus because it's an all-in-one supplement (calcium, D3, multivitamins) that can be used as is, but if you've already bought a bunch of calcium+D3, you might not want to switch right now.

Finally, most keepers leave a small little dish with pure, phosphorus-free calcium (the type without D3) in the cage at all times. This is especially important for growing babies and breeding females, who need a lot more calcium.

Nice, thanks for the info. Ive so far read and heard mixed ways on feeding and how much to feed. Ill try a everyday plan from now on just gonna lower the cricket count. I have a good amount of cal+d3 so ill just order some multivitamin to mix in. He worries me during the day although, he stands so still and looks like he's not even breathing. Towards the evening he's more attentive and when its feeding time he's up and at it. I know he's nocturnal of course, guess i just have to get used to his ways. Thanks again for the info!
