I know that tail wiggling is aggressive/mating/hunting/excited behavior, but I wasn't sure if they had other wiggles that meant anything else.
My smaller beardie will occasionally "nod". Not a head bob exactly, it looks exactly like when a human just nods their head once. It's not fast or slow, just normal movement speed. He does it when I reach into his tank to pet him, and he'll lean into my petting. It seems to be his greeting for me, or an ok for attention. That's what makes me ask this probably stupid question.
Tonight, John took the darker leo out for a few moments to put in a nice rock with two holes as another hiding/climbing thing, and he was wandering all over John. Seemed quite calm, didn't even mind gentle petting (I know, it's soon, but we couldn't resist. They're so soft compared to beardies!). When John put him back in, he wandered around a while, then he stopped and slowly wiggled his tail. Then he climbed on top of the warm hut and did it again. It was very slow, and there were no bugs crawling (they're in a dish, and we've fed them with tongs thus far), and the other leo wasn't near or visible. Then he went and curled up in the warm hut. And the other leo ate a few roaches after joining him.
(He'd also eaten several roaches and pooped prior to this). So, was he just unhappy? Cause he didn't do the wiggle till about 2-3 minutes after he was back in his tank. We'd offered him more roaches, but he wasn't interested. He didn't shy away from John's hand or anything. It just seemed out of place, and it was basically moving the same way as if he was walking, but he wasn't going anywhere.
Don't worry, we're not making anymore changes for a bit. Oh, and if it might matter, they're on repti-carpet and the warm spot is about 87-90. They do spend a lot of time there, so I'm not sure if it needs to be warmer.
