I have done a decent amount of research as to what type of heat I should be providing for my Leo and I use both a lamp and a heat pad. I have it both on one side of the tank so that my Leo can regulate her temp.

But the more I look at peoples setup and from the info I received from breeders at a recent show, people here in Florida do not use any type of heating at all, unless it gets cold in the winter; which is very rare.

They say that the room temperature should be fine.

My apt temperature ranges from 75-82 during the day. And 70-75 at night.

My question is... except on cold days, do I need to have a heating device on at these temperatures?

Thank you in advance for any input :)

most of the members me included think 90-95 is the best surface temp

I agree, that doesn't sound like it will be warm enough at all. I'm sure that the gecko could tolerate this but it certainly isn't ideal. I would think you are looking for a UTH that keeps that side of the tank around the aforementioned 90 to 95 degrees. It shouldn't take both a UTH and a Lamp especially with that ambient temp.

I was also told that they need warmth coming from both th eTOP and BOTTOM to aid with digestion. Is this true?

Thanks guys for the help :) I'll definitely keep her at 90-95.

Ambient temp even if florida is not sufficient since we use air conditioning. You will need an under tank heat mat to have a warm end and no lighting since leos do not require it.

Hmm... This is kinda frustrating. I spend a good amount of time researching before I got one and I thought i had the basics down... But now I'm realizing half the information I received were bad and what's worse, most of the equipment and supplies I bought I don't need :/

Anyways, thanks for the tips everyone. I really appreciate it. Hopefully I can get his down soon.

You'll get it. Spend some time in the housing section of the forum and you'll start to see a general consensus on what's good and what's needed. The other stuff you can just return. I use a heat mat AND substitute with a moonlight blue bulb if my temps fall short but then again I am in Nw Pa so def. not Fla :)
