Hello all on gecko forum :) My name is hannah and i'm new to keeping a gecko. On sunday i went to an amazing reptile store which had so many different species i didn't even know existed! i decided as a first time reptile keeper to go for a leo as they are irresistible and have such a variety of colours/personalities. I purchased my leo named Tango who is a male super hypo tangerine carrot tale. I already love him to pieces and cant resist checking up on him to see how his doing. He is currently settling in to his new home, loves his moist hide and he's cold coconut hide a lot and seems to be hiding most of the time. He hasn't really acknowledged the food bowl yet either. Hopefully with time he will settle in ok. Thank you all for your helpful posts on gecko forum, it really did give me a boost start on how set up a ideal leo home. :D xx

Thanks for your welcoming :) so pleased with the way he is settling in. I was a little worried at first as I haven't really seen much of him, wasn't pooping, wasn't eating only his calcium dish was disturbed. But last night he left me two large presents on he's shelf. So that shows he can climb well and isn't struggling to poop. I've only seen him eat a couple of mealies since I got him Sunday. I was told in the shop to only feed him mealies but I think I am going to buy some additional crickets or locusts to try and encourage him to eat more. Any recommendations would be great? Thanks x

Major progress! :)

Wow, myself and tango have just made major progress in building our relationship. after spending time talking to tango softly and placing food nearby to show I mean no harm, he decided to slowly creep from he's cave and take a mealie. He then began to walk towards the glass for a closer look. He could obviously see I was a little nervous not being used to handling him so he put two front legs up on he's log so he was closer to the top of the viv. He even stretched out his neck as though to say "it's ok to stroke me" so I gave him a little stroke on the head and he's neck. He couldn't get enough of it I'm sure he wanted me to let him climb up on my hand. I feel so touched by this I never realised they could be such affectionate and sensitive creatures! I hope this is the first step to a strong relationship. X
