so my girl has been haveing issues as of late- she has lost weight, of course, but still has a little meat on her, so shes not skinney.
anyway, she sheds once a week ( the last 3 weeks) and her color is pale. this last shed she didnt eat her skin.
she refuses all food ( mealies, wax, pheonix, crickets- alive, dead, crawling or hand fed) and will only take in some slurry. she hasnt pooped in a week ( not getting much to eat, but still).
im realy at a loss at this point- does anyone know of any other home remidies i could try? i did some mineral oil a few weeks back to help pass anything. she has no unuseual swelling or obvious issues with her body or mouth or eyes- she had a strange thing happen to her foot, but thats pritty much gone.
ill have to take pics of her i think and post what she looks like now ( of course, stuped camera wont work right- sigh)
anything would help, thankyou :(

Did you take her to the vet?

I've had this happen to two different geckos over the past year, and unfortunately, lost them both. I took them to Alameda East, home of Dr. Fitzgerald (although I didn't see him, I saw the other reptile vet there, Dr. Hafer), and she was at a loss. She suspected thyroid problems, and we tried Baytril, but it didn't help. I ran the problem by Steve Sykes, and he also guessed thyroid. Caging, temperature and general husbandry was the same as all of my other animals, so it just didn't add up to environmental conditions or anything easy to change.

Sorry I can't provide any positive insight, just what I experienced. Maybe someone else has a silver bullet; I'd love to learn more about this particular ailment.

wait for Dr. doolittle (reps4life) she will be able to help you better:)

You are so ignorant. I find it really hard to believe you are 32, if so shame on you. Unfortunately I cannot help as I have returned to work and I am currently at work , something that you probably lack. You have crossed the line and you will be on ignore.

kkigs, im sorry to hear that :( i realy hope thats not the situation here, but i accept that bad things happen that we cannot stop, no matter what we do.
how long did they hold out for? my girl seems awefuly depressed- so i take her out and try to allow her to roam about, wich seems to help. still, it breaks my heart to see her this way :(

someone asked you if you took her to the vet you still havent answered ....if you havent stop wasting time on here after you tried enough methods at home that obviously dont work..and take her to a vet plain and simple.

Sarah, one thing that needs to be ruled out is parasites. Get a fecal test done right away. Parasites have a lot of strange effects on geckos as they can rob them of blood and nutrition, and eventually their life if untreated.

glad your taking her to a vet...my opinion is you should of taken her long ago its probably parasites... with leos there is such thing as its to late. on another note..it was really irresponsible of you not to take your leo in when she suffered a foot injury when to this day you still have no idea what caused it...unless im missing something that was really irresponsible on your part..im far from having substantial knowledge in these animals and even further from being an expert so I don't want to sound like im a know it all or w/e..but that is just my 2 cents. all that matters is that shes being taken in. even though ur taking her to a vet pictures are still welcomed.

no worries on any insult- i understand how it sounded! let me clear it up- she had a strange skin thing going on with her foot, in wich i first thought she only had some calcium powder on it. after soaking it in water, it looked like non-patterned dots ( it didnt look like she bit her foot, and it wasnt mites or liveing) she had no pain or iritation, i checked it frequently, and after a few sheds, it was gone. i can only imagin that it could have been a reaction to something, and since she wont eat anything, its hard to tell if it came from food.
i plan to get her to eat a little more slurry and get an apointment on a day she poos as fresh as possible for the best results ( ive heard?)
thanks for all your advice :)
