this morning i noticed that my leo Bella was about to shed, so i had my mom soak her in some water for a few minutes while i was at work because last time some skin had been stuck on her toes after shedding. my mom said that when she went to soak her in the water, her tail was gone. she is not in with any other leos. last week i noticed that the end of her tail was very dry and shriveled and looked like it was almost disappearing, but i had read on here to check for infection (there was none that i could see), and if there was no infection the end of the tail would most likely dry up and fall off.. but now her whole tail is gone, and it looks quite raw (is there anything i can do to make it heal better? and how long does it take for a new tail to grow?) also, the tail is nowhere in the cage.. are leos known to eat their tails?
does anyone know why this might have happened? temps are right in the tank and she has all of her hides, etc. her cage is set up as suggested on this site. she had previously been sick with parasites and stopped eating but now she is eating and gaining weight..
any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

If the tail falls off sometimes a leo will eat it. You can get a little Neosporin or plain bacitracin to put on the end of the tail just to help prevent infection. I know it freaked me out a bit the first time it happened to one of our little girls. I wouldn't be surprised if within a week you see a tiny pink nub coming out the center of the tail. If I can find some pics, I'll post them for you.

New Regen Pic

Pic isn't great, but the only one I can find right now. This was probably a couple weeks growth.

I would not worry to bad. I love my tarzans regrown tail it is sooo soft and fat lol. to me it does not look funny or gross. his came off when he was about a month and half and I put nothing on it I just left it alone and kept an eye on it.

Freya who is pictured above is only missing the ridges on her regen. At first glance you don't even notice it. We have another who has a regen that is obvious. Her tail almost looks like it wanted to split into 2. As long as you don't see anything that looks like infection you should be fine.
