Hi im Marc, always had a thing for reptiles i previously had 2 Snakes, Baby Albino Corn Snake then a Black Kingsnake which was 5ft before it died from eating bark.

Im currently after getting a leopard gecko, ive already bought the EXO TERRA leopard gecko terrarium and kit, set it all up, first problem is that ive installed the heat mat inside the terrarium as stated in manual and used paper as substrate for time being, i also have the canopy which has 2x 25w sunglow 2.0 bulbs in and yet im struggling to get 80 degrees temp in the tank. Any help be appreciated. I have the habistat turned on highest at 92 degrees. Also where should i have probe for themostat to get a more accurate reading??

I have not yet bought gecko as wanted to get temps correct before hand.

Place the probe on top of the substrate(paper towel) for accurate belly temps. Try and keep your room temps around 72-75 degrees. These UTH do not work well in cool rooms.

Scm133 thank you, I moved the temp probe to ground level next to heat mat and hide, I'm getting reading of 90.2 thanks for your advice. If temp stays that way I can get my Leo tomorrow. Thanks again.
