Normal for infertile eggs to be getting bigger?

I'm so, so sorry about this double topic/post thing, but this is probably something I should have asked before. Is it normal to see a little dark mass at the bottom of an infertile egg, or if the egg itself grows bigger, but candles yellow? The mass might be just the candle at a wong angle, but it's the growing that gets me. Do infertile eggs usually do that, then mold or dent in? Thanks again for putting up with me:main_thumbsup:

How long has the egg been incubating? Fertile eggs usually grow, and sometimes an egg can be fertile and fail mid-term.. I've never had an infertile egg growing, so perhaps your egg is fertile.. it all depends on how long it's been incubating and glowing yellow, etc..

It's day 74 of incubation, at 83-84 degrees. It glows yellow, but before I could see little veins.

Is it yellow or sort of white? I am asking this because it might be close to hatching.

By day 74 if it is infertile it would really be a yellow/greenish color. Either way if it is not hurting anything I would just leave it. Dont toss no eggs till they stink!!!

Nope, the eggshell is white, but there's a very small/dark-ish soft spot on one side, about the size of the tip of a dull pencil lead. It's not molding/denting spot, but it's just...there, if you know what I mean. Thank you!

Hi!

Did you candle the egg before, at week 2-4?
Normally the eggs turn from yellow (with a vein) in the first 5-7 days to a orange-red in the week ~1 - 4(-5). Later on in the incubation period the hatchling develops the skinpigments. If it's a non Albino the skin isn't transparent any more so you wont see veins (or only very little) and the egg shows only shadows of the babie (those can be very small if the embryo lays on the bottom of the egg) and white/yellow spaces. If it is an albino inside, specially a RAPTOR you should see more red...

So I would gess that there is a good possibility that it is close to hatching as italipinos8 said!

Good luck!

No, I've seen red veins before, but the whole egg never glowed red, or close to it. The mother is an albino, but the father is a hypo. I candled the egg before, yes, and that's when I saw the little veins. What about the little shiny/dark-ish spot that I'm seeing? I'm candling it right now, hold on.... it's yellow, but with the tiniest red spot there, on the bottom.
