There's a thread in the Leopard gecko forum about training your gecko. I reminded me of when I was training my pet rats. I had two girls, Spark and Mouse. The first time they came out of the cage on their own was priceless. Spark was always the leader of the two and she would first come out on to my hand. She'd run back inside as if to tell her sister "Hey! You gotta try this!" And from there, they just kept going back and forth on my arms, both competing for the same space, venturing out a little farther each time until they realized it was a loop. They were so excited that they would twitch and "popcorn" like a guinea pig.
I miss those girls. They died a few years ago when I went to college. My dad was skeptical at first, but he fell for their charm.
I got myself a dumbo boy a little over a year ago. I named him Ballroom Blitz. "And the man in the back said everyone attack and it turned into a ballroom blitz. And the girl in the corner said boy I wanna warn ya it'll turn into a ballroom blitz" I Actually got him from a chain store. He was the sweetest little creature I ever had. He rode on my shoulder the whole way home while my sister drove. Never got scared and pooped on me. He was always interested in what was going on. Unfortunately, I found out that I was severely allergic to him. Wherever he walked on me, he would leave a trail of hives behind him. I tried Allerpet solutions, claritin, benadryl liquid sticks. If I held him for too long, I would start wheezing as my lungs rebelled against his dander. This past April, Blitz got a new home. I drove him from where I live, 60 miles east of Chicago down to my fiends in Indianapolis. He now has brothers to play with and a literal rat condo, complete with a slide! He's getting the attention he deserves. But I sorely wish I could still be his momma. All the girls in Indy who saw him before his new family picked him up were jealous he wasn't coming home with them. He was such a sweetheart. I know he is happy where he is living now.
