Not eating

So my crestie Rusty refuses to eat the CGD.
I had fed him baby food for only two nights..I only saw him the first night licking at it. I figured it was a hit.
But now I am questioning because it looks like he isn't even touching the thing.
I mixed in baby food just to see, and again no touch.
I visibly saw him eat crickets once,
and now he gets 10 small dusted a week that do dissapeer

Is that enough or what should I be doing?
I want to make sure he is healthy.

As long as he is eating something I wouldn't worry too much about it, the baby food is more of a supplement to the diet just to vary the food they get. It's not like a bearded dragon for instance that needs fruits and veggies on top of insect. I would still put it in there and leave it for like 2 hours. My day gecko is the same way, I only saw her eat it once, and since then I haven't, I still put it in her cage as an option though, and she may be eating I really don't know though. So if he isn't eating it, it isn't that big a deal, just continue to offer it to him.

To get him off the baby food you would need to offer only cgd, no crickets or anything else. He will eventually take it. Getting rid of the baby food is the best thing you can do if you want a healthy gecko.:main_thumbsup:

It may take 2-3 weeks but he will start eating it. He may just take a couple licks of it at first until he learns that there is no more baby food.
Dont worry about him starving, it takes them a little time to learn that they arent getting the sweeter tasting food anymore.

No, I don't think its the baby food. Like I said, I only saw him around it once. Just for the past three nights I have been mixing it barley in. The rest of the time it was straight up cgd with 10 crickets a week.
So give up crickets?
That makes me nervous! What if he doesn't eat...

Dont worry he will. I have bought many cresteds over the years eating baby food and it always works.

How long have you had him? if he is a new gecko that may be the problem. Sometimes it can take them a few weeks to start eating reguarly.

It could be stress from being in a new place. You can try dusting the crickets with dry cgd a few times instead of calcium and see if that works.
he should eventually start eating it. I've bought a few adults last year that was never offered cgd and they are all eating it now as their main diet.

As long as he looks healthy then I wouldnt worry too much and he may be eating it already just not enought to notice.

I thought i had the same problem with mine, it never seemed that the CGD was being touched. So i offer crickets every other day and CGD every day and they are growing way too fast and are way too big to ONLY be eating the crickets, i think they eat it but its just very hard to tell. Besides i have caught them on the dish licking it a few times.
