Alright guys kinda of a newbie when it comes to leos. Anyways iv'e only had my male for three days. The first time i fed him crickets(dusted) and he hunted them all down. But today i threw in about 5 crickets and he just ignores them. Even when they walk right past his mouth.

So my question is will he just eat them whenever he wants to?

Is this normal behavior?

One more thing how active should he be? should i see him walking around alot?

additional details: He is about 8 inches long.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated!!

I fed him 5 crickets the day before yesterday.

To be honest i don't even know the temps.

i'm picking up two a thermometers later today.

The tank is a 10 gallon and i have a 60 watt day bulb on one side and on the others side nothing. At night i also have a 40 watt night bulb on one side.

Hes not as active as he was the first day. Im using aspen bedding could he be impacted or something??

sorry for all the questions....

Keeping Reptiles 101

Know Your Temperatures.

First off
get him off the aspen shavings put him on PT or slate
Get an under tank heater UTH . Pick up a temp gun. and monitor temps that way. it measures surface temp which is what you need to know because that's what leos use to digest their food.
you might need to get a thermostat for the UTH keep the area over the UTH in the mid 90s. Optimum warm side temp 97° cool side the low 80s could go down to the high 70s as long as that warm side is mid 90s.
