I have a 50-watt red heat lamp that I use during the day for my leo and a undertank heater for night time. the heat lamp only keeps the temp. around 80 and i'm told it's supposed to be around 90. i dont understand why it isn't hot enough, some people even use a 40 watt and they're fine and my house is relatively warm all the time so i don't understand why it isn't this hot. any tips on making it hotter in there? can i use both heat sources at the same time or would this be very bad?

Well, I reccomend only using the heat pad all day and night. Because air temperature doesnt matter, its all about surface tempuature. Also be sure to have a hot side and a cool side.

you should leave the heat mat turned on at all times, and hook it up to a thermostat to regulate the temperature. You shouldn't need that extra over head light. We have one, but it is only because where I live it gets to around -30 in the winter, so they need it to keep warm
