not ovulating

I have a female that I'm really not sure if she's ovulating or not-she's just fat and I can't see the eggs. Though last year you could really see them, so I don't think she's got any. What I don't understand is my other females are laying already, so wouldn't that prompt this female to ovulate? What can I do?
