I purchased a leo a while back and when I received her it looked as though she was already pregnant, well at that time I didn't know much about pregnant leos so I thought they were unfertilized eggs just waiting to be fertilized. Well on Jan. 2 she began to ovulate (by this time I no longer saw the white bulges in her tummy so I assumed they were just nothing). When I put her in my males tank, hoping they would hookup, after a fews days I noticed she had hooked up with my male and this morning I found something in her cage and this afternoon I found yet another. Was she egg binding? because she has lost a very significant amount of weight. She was before she was introduced to the male 52g and now she is 36g.

Please Help!

Those are slugs, or unfertilized eggs. She's losing weight because she's using all of her energy to produce eggs. Separate her from the male and offer her plenty of food. Males will stress females out on top of the stress she's already feeling from producing eggs.

whats happened to me wen i adopted an already gravid female - she wasn't getting enough calcium and used everything she had to make the eggs... after a while she didn't lay her eggs they jus disappeared, i later found ou t that sometimes the leo will obsorb the egg for its calcium - maybe thats what happened the first time.
